Transforming Border • Middelalderparken Competition
• Oslo | Norway • Design: February 2013
• Size: 17 ha
Transforming Borders, a proposal for Oslo’s Park of History, aims to rethink the relationship between the lake and the city by addressing its efforts in the definition of a simple design gesture: a linear continuous strip, equipped with many public facilities (concert hall, outdoor exhibition areas, swimming pools, etc.).While most of the program is condensed in the lakeshore, the existing archaeological ruins will be integrated into the design of new green areas, whose objective is to attract visitors and to introduce a new hierarchy of connections within the city. Citizens will have the opportunity to visit the medieval ruins but, at the same time, will experience the park as a permeable space open to the city, where to spend some free time and find different activities.
